AFTER THE RAIN

I'm Wearing: Alexander Wang T Shirt, American Apparel Leather Shorts, Creative Recreation Metallic Sneakers, Leather LA Baseball Hat

It's funny when it rains in Los Angeles - the city suddenly comes to a complete stop, forgetting the sense of time that existed before the rain. Everything happens so quickly in this city on a normal day, driving on freeways at high speeds, running from one event to another, then to the gym and to dinner and then two different meetings over different drinks at different bars - go, go, go. But then the rain comes, and it all comes to a screeching halt. I guess you could say we're spoiled here in southern California, so when the weather turns on us, sometimes we forget that life still goes on, and instead curl up on the couch with a movie and a bottle of wine until it passes. This was particularly true this weekend, I watched most of the movies nominated for Academy Awards and piled blankets on top of my lifeless body on my couch when the thermometer hit 55 degrees (pathetic, right?). And then out of nowhere, blue skies opened up and the sun peeked through, so I ran outside as fast as I could. There's something so peaceful after the rain - the calm before the storm of people break out from hibernation. So Haleigh and I jumped at the chance to feel the sun and ran to her rooftop, where the city looked damp, but totally refreshed. And today, the sun is back and we can all talk about how lazy we were this weekend when the storm kept us from doing our daily routines. Life is funny in LA, but I wouldn't have it any other way. More tomorrow. Photos: Haleigh Walsworth
